THE ALLEGRI STRING QUARTET Beethoven Op 131 in C Sharp Minor Britten No 3 Op 94

One of the finest string quartets in the world has recorded another wonderful disc for The Naim Label.

This is the Allegri String Quartet’s fifth album released on the Label and is a further example of their brilliant expertise in interpretation.

Beethoven composed his Opus 131 for string quartet in 1826 whilst Britten’s Opus 94 was not composed until 1976, demonstrating the Quartet’s versatility necessary to perform works from different centuries. The deep musicality and superlative technique of the four individuals combine to create a seamless dynamic communality.

This CD was recorded as the last to feature cellist Bruno Schrecker and violinist David Roth who have both retired since the recording. The Allegri String Quartet continues, with another top-class cellist and violinist replacing Schrecker and Roth.

The latest CD to be added to the steadily increasing catalogue was recorded by Ken Christianson at the Henry Wood Hall in London. This venue was chosen for its size and famous acoustic attributes, which were vital to the finished recording.
