Seven excellent bands play their own versions of classic Cuban son. From the vocal flash of young stars Septeto Santiaguero to the irrisistible swing of nine pensioners and the enormous talent of seven young women, Las Perlas del Son, Santiago is the hot spot for Cuban son. All these groups were found and recorded by Corason producer,Eduardo LLereneas, who has been recording Cuban son since 1985. The collection gives an idea of the creativity of young musicians who reinterpret the classic repertoire with a flavour that is part of their own generation. At the same time the collection includes tracks by one group of old veterans, Santiago Son, who have been playing this music for at least 50 years!
