Gates - String Quartet No 1 in A Minor
Bridge - Three Idylls; Novelletten
Barber - String Quartet Op. 11
The Naim label is pleased to present the first ever recording of The Eberle String Quartet. The quartet was founded in 1993 after its members met whilst playing for The Sarum Chamber orchestra.
The Quartet have an impressive musical history, playing regularly with the London Virtuoso, London Festival Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Bouremouth Sinfonietta and Symphony Orchestras and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Eberles choice of music for this disc is of great importance. Philip Gates is a previously unrecorded, contemporary British composer, and both Naim and the Quartet are glad to have been able to collaborate on this premiere. To complement Gates’ debut The Eberle also gives a superb performance of Frank Bridge’s Idylls and Novelletten. An opus by America’s romantic composer, Samuel Barber, was chosen to complete this collection.
Once again, The Naim Label have called upon the engineer Ken Christianson to ensure that the best possible recording was achieved.
…a glowing performance by the Quartets members. Their close rapport was much in evidence” Bournemouth Echo
