Click to enlargeFutch - Bauer, Rose & Lehn

"Futch" is only one of many projects of the violinist, festival curator, author and "creative music maker" Jon Rose. Other projects are: The Exiles (w/ Tony Buck & Joe Williamson), The Kryonics (w/ Aleks Kolkowski & Matthias Bauer) or Artery (w/Chris Abrahams & Clayton Thomas). The preferences of the Australian, who was born 1951 in England, apply for self-logicians like Karl Valentin ("Eine Violine für Valentin") or like the Australian composer Percy Grainger ("Skeleton in the Museum", "Perks"), who is obsessed, above all however the radicalized role of "Violin Music in the Age of Shopping", as he had named one of his cunning projects. Percy Graingers slogan "Each man must have a topic, which drives oneself crazy; to content oneself with less is mad", applies also to Rose. Rose plays like the mother on speed, Bauer trumpets like an elephant bull and Lehn deft with ten fingers as if he wanted to defuse a bomb. That has something sticking on. Futch - concert is like a glass filled, with romance, jazz and electronics, which falls over stairway and smashes into innumerable fragments. But in a time paradox, as only Stephen Hawkins could explain it, the fall takes twice 40 minutes. And at the end the glass is dead broke but the music is still alive. As well all visitors of the concert feel more alive, than before.
