I composed Horizons Chimeriques in 2008, at the request of musician Pierre Aldegon, who introduced me to the hurdy-gurdy player Dominique Regef. The basic idea was to bring into play 'my' instrument - the chamber orchestra (which, for the past thirty years, I have conducted regularly) - , two percussionists (to transcend the percussive aspect of playing styles) and the hurdy-gurdy (belonging especially to the world of traditional music)' (DANIEL TOSI)
A surprising and captivating marriage wherein the hurdy-gurdy responds to the orchestra trough improvisations, thereby creating emulation and excitement from the strings and percussion, the work alternates the stages of a voyage trough memory of the composer (roms) and the devilish sounds (rucks) of an entire planet.
