In 2001, classical guitarists Michael Dreyer and Hugo German Gaido started the label Dreyer-Gaido with the goal of producing music outside the mainstream - music that they found exciting and that was not produced by the "majors". Their early successes attracted the attention of two great orchestras - the Stuttgart Philharmonic and the Bremen Philharmonic. This led to the recording of some of the main classical repertoire - Mahler symphonies with Stuttgart Philharmonic and Brahms symphonies with Bremen Philharmonic.
One area of musical focus is the edition of the works of Friedhelm Doehl. one of the most outstanding German composers of the 20th century. His work is presented in the "friedhelm doehl edition" featuring musicians like Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Heinrich Schiff, Aribert Reimann, the LaSalle Quartet, the Auryn Quartet, Rudolf Buchbinder, and Boris Pergamenschikow, to mention a few.
Additionally, Dreyer Gaido produced four CDs with the amazing American tenor Scot Weir and a number of CDs with the outstanding Lithuanian cellist David Geringas.
In 2010, they established "Dreyer Gaido Eastern Voices", featuring some of the greatest voices and musicians of near and middle east, namely Alim Qasimov, Ibrahim Keivo, Bakustic Jazz, Yulduz Turdieva. All recordings are made by some of the finest sound engineers and are contain detailed sleeve notes. Many of the recordings are made during the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück.
