According to Marie-Louise Langlais, for years Jean Langlais had wished for me to do a recording of his works. I regret not achieving this during his lifetime. As the centennial celebration of his birth approached, I decided to make doing such a recording a priority. With so many pieces from which to choose, it was a difficult task to decide on a program. So I chose works I have played before and have always loved. Also, I felt it was appropriate to include the two pieces Langlais dedicated to me. Moreover, it was important to present a variety of moods and themes: from simple to complex, from softest to loudest, from slow to fast, from monophonic to polyphonic. I hope there is something for everybody in the selections included. (George C.Baker)
