The Eighties saw many talented session musicians playing the London club scene as an avenue to experiment with their own music, away from the often very contrived music featured in the charts at the dictate of the record companies. SFX was not a band heading for the charts, it was a power house letting off steam. Raw spirit and enthusiasm coupled with pure technical brilliance amazed delighted audiences. If you were every fortunate enough to attend one of the SFX gigs at the Cricketers Club in London you’ll know what we mean. This disc re-captures those electric performances, which bucked the traditional sounds of the time. This is music made by friends who were able to draw on their vast experience playing with some of the world’s finest. Alan Murphy, the lead guitarist, visited Naim Audio several times as his home and studio systems featured Naim electronics and speakers. He understood and appreciated our desire for faithful music reproduction and we certainly appreciated his efforts as a brilliant musician who demanded the best.
