STEINMANN | Echo

The lost search for the lost melodiy - the Greek aulos flutes which Conrad Steinmann reconstructed together with his instrument maker - only superficially has something to do with history and music history. Steinmann brings to life the inimaginable music of the Greeks. His notes are a categorial «now». Only in our recollection, several minutes or hours after hearing them, do they become memories. Memories of an imagined Greece... Peter Bichsel (trans. Roger Clément)
